Lighting the Future
Living on Earth states, “Lighting accounts for twenty percent of all energy use in the US.” We rely on lighting more than we know and in order to reduce the amount of energy we use from lighting we need to invest in the future of LEDs. Currently incandescent bulbs waste 95% of energy flowing through them as heat. LED lights not only last longer but also don’t produce as much heat, which can cut cost of air conditioning. There is huge development and promise for LED lights. One of the main focuses today is saving the planet and finding more eco friendly ways to live our lives. There is no argument that LED lights will become the major source of lighting in the future, making florescent and incandescent lighting a thing of the past.
The production of 60 and 40 watt incandescent light bulbs has come to an end which will effect the most US consumers because they are the most popular consumer light bulbs on the market. The government phased out 100 and 75 watt light bulbs in 2012 and 2013 however, the elimination of 60 and 40 watt bulbs has a much greater impact. LEDs are a great alternative to replace the phasing out incandescent bulbs and they are lighting the way of the future so why wait, invest on LED lighting today!
